Compare Your Brand with Competitors
Use fair comparisons to find topics where another brand is ahead.
Work through the sections below to complete setup and checks, then use the top search to jump into related help docs when needed.
Choose the brands before the numbers
Add competitors in Context, or in the newer GEO Audit settings. The overview has brand comparison views. Workspaces with Monitor → Competitors also have a dedicated view for SOV rankings, gaps over time, and topic-level gaps.
- 1Add real alternatives a buyer would consider. Use the domain to avoid confusing similarly named brands.
- 2Use the same project, date range, and available model filters for the comparison.
- 3If the dedicated page is absent, start with the overview's Visibility or SOV tab.
Find a specific gap
A rank says who is ahead in this tracked set. It is not a ranking of every business in the world. SOV changes when your brand or the other included brands change.
- 1Check your visibility as well as your SOV. A lower share does not always mean your own visibility fell.
- 2In topic or intent rows, look for a buyer question where a competitor leads. Intent means what the buyer wants to do.
- 3Open the related prompt evidence before deciding what to write or update.
Turn a gap into a useful task
Suppose competitors appear for “lightweight schoolbags” and you do not. A useful next step might be to explain your product's weight with verified facts. Simply repeating the competitor's name is not a content strategy.
- 1Write down the question and the page you will improve.
- 2Use accurate product facts and a clear comparison.
- 3Recheck the same prompt after the change and compare saved results.
