Reddit Guide
A practical playbook for using strategic Reddit comments to get your brand cited by AI systems like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews — the GEO strategy that actually works in 2026.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is about getting AI systems — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews — to cite your brand when answering user questions. Reddit has become the single most powerful GEO channel because of three compounding advantages: it is constantly updated with real user experiences, it hosts multi-perspective threaded discussions that AI models love to synthesize, and its content ranks heavily in Google search, which feeds directly into AI training and retrieval pipelines.
| Platform | Content Format | Content Freshness | Multi-Perspective Discussion | Real User Experience | AI Citation Potential | Best For |

The best GEO opportunities come from popular Reddit threads that continue receiving comments months or even years after they were first published. A well-written comment is not separate content — it becomes part of the Reddit page itself. Comments that receive lots of upvotes, sit near the top of the discussion, and are structured and detailed are far more likely to be read, indexed, and cited by AI systems when generating answers.
Start by adding keywords related to your product in the Reddit Monitor.
For example, if I sell smart locks, I'll add the keyword "smart lock" under Monitor.
Then switch the result mode to "Show what's ranked in Google" so you only focus on Reddit threads that already have search visibility.

Once you enable the filter, you will see three view options: Suggested posts to reply (time-sensitive golden window posts), Show all valid posts (all filtered posts including older ones), and Show what's ranked in Google (Reddit posts already ranking in Google search).
The results you'll see are mostly Reddit pages that already rank on the first page of Google.

Each post card shows a Google Rank badge (e.g., #1 Page 1 · Position 1) alongside a Traffic Opportunity score. Prioritize posts with Page 1 positions and high Traffic Opportunity scores — these are the threads where a high-quality, upvoted comment from you will be seen by the most people and cited by the most AI systems.
Structure matters: use clear paragraphs, include specific details or data points, and answer the question directly before mentioning your brand. Aim to earn upvotes — the more upvotes your comment has, the higher it sits in the thread, and the more weight AI retrieval systems give it.
SEO optimizes for ranking in traditional search results. GEO optimizes for being cited by AI-generated answers in tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. Reddit is uniquely powerful for GEO because AI models heavily weight real user discussions when generating answers about products.
Comments on posts that already rank Page 1 on Google can start appearing in AI citations within days to weeks, as AI systems regularly re-crawl high-authority pages.

Yes, always. Reddit communities value transparency, and disclosed affiliations are treated more favorably than undisclosed ones.
One high-quality comment per thread. Multiple comments from the same account look spammy and will be downvoted.
